Must have been a new employee. There are many less than an hours drive from where you are, The Grove in Rock Hill SC, NVR in Cheryville, The Farm2 in Charlotte, Overcash in Salisbury, Monkee Bottom in Lexington. There are many more that are about a 2 hour drive or less.

icepick, if you are near Harris Blvd & Mallard Creek you have to be less than 15 minutes from The Farm. It is a National Level track and I have seen many articles in magazines where vehicles have been tested there. They are hosting the 2007 Roar Truck Off-Road Nationals there next month as well.
J-Daddy, with ALL the construction/developement in Charlotte, bashing sites can be found almost anywhere. What part of Charlotte are you anticipating moving too?

How about any good places to bash without ticking off "neighbors"? With two Nitros in this household I fear the apartment complex getting nasty calls about "those people who are always out playing with their loud cars". Tracks are great but any good parks in the University or N. Charlotte (Concordish) area to bash in?

Run down 485 south towards Ballantyne. There is a huge area behind my apartment community. Nobody is gonna complain.
We need to set up a bash day or something. There are probably 4 or 5 guys here in the Charlotte area on these forums. I think we could have a great time. Maybe make it a monthly kind of thing.
You arent too far from the Farm either tinkerbell.

By any chance are you the guy that stopped in the Bloom parking lot to talk to me today while I was running my Rustler? I live a stone's throw from Hobby Town, and I can't believe several others on this forum are in the University area.
I'm looking for some good bashing spots too - it seems all of the schools now have their driveways gated off after hours. The Farm is only about a 10 minute drive from Hobby Town, but from what I've heard it's not open for practice or play - race day only.
I'm thinking about going to Latta Plantation Park tomorrow and check it out. It's up off of Beaties Ford Rd, not far from Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd, maybe 15 minutes from Hobby Town. I've gone there a few times walking the trails, and although I don't think they would like us on the trails, there is a large dirt parking lot at the Equestrian center that might work. There is hardly anyone parking there on Sundays unless they are hosting an event, and I think there is probably some heavier stuff around the parking lots.
Someone send me a private message or reply here if you know of anything, or want to get go hunting for something.

Sounds like a great idea to me... that is if I'm included in the "4 or 5 guys here" comment. Girls can bash too! LOL!! I think we may head out today to check out a park I saw off W Sugar Creek near Mallard on Friday. Can't remember the name of it but most local parks have at least a fair amount of grassy area or even pavement. Granted I can't run on near the amount of terrain types as most of you guys running 4WDs (I'm running a Sport) but I'll find a way!

Yeah for anyone interested, "Sugaw Park" or "Sugar Creek Park & Rec Center" was a nice place to go. Don't try to run on the playing fields (soccer/baseball - you'll get a wrap on the wrist) but there are some great "wooded" areas that were lots of fun for bashing.
And yes, the Sport was a blast!!

I'm going to check that out then! By wooded areas, do you mean like pine bark/dirt or something like that, or is it pretty thick?
Also, for anyone interested, I found two good spots in the area today. Check my post here for pictures. The first spot is a housing development under constuction, off of Beaties Ford Rd about 2-3 miles past Latta Plantation Park entrance, heading away from Mt Holly-Huntersville road. There are about a half dozen developments going up in the area, with some nice play room.
The second is a large construction site across WT Harris from Northlake Mall. They are putting up a strip mall, and there is a large section graded that they have not layed foundation on yet. There is a large section of recently set foundation next to it, so maybe this will stay all dirt for awhile. It doesn't have a lot of terrain for jumping, but it has some serious open room for cranking up the speed, and I think I will take some cones out next time to set up a course. There are some dirt piles of various sizes for thrashing around and even some worthy of a monster hill climb as well. The Nitro people might like this area to really open up without fear of hitting anyone or anything.
If you do go to either, please do so only on the weekends or later in the evenings when no one is around, and don't leave any litter behind. Both areas are fun and really close to home for me, so I don't want them to sent security patrols to run us off or anything

In the back section of the park(just dont go on the soccer field), its a bunch of trees(near picnic area) with dirt and grass base. A few roots to launch off of.

Most definately included.
The area behind where I live is all kinds of terrain including flat wide open sections of pavement and gravel lots too. I have been considering building some dirt jumps for the r/c trucks. There are a few natural ones scattered here & there. Your Nitro Sport should do just fine.
I'll start a separate thread up soon to gauge the interest of the people in this area. I think having anywhere from 3-8 guys, ermm people to bash with would work out super. Especially considering that we all frequent the forums.

Sweet! Sounds good to me. Just post a link to it off this one when you do (if you haven't already).

It's pretty much patches of dirt, grass and pine straw everywhere. Like Ice said, there's some big branches and roots too for little jumps although I kept getting hung up in some of the smaller branches. Still, it was lots of fun.

I found there is a bmx track at Hornets nest park. does anyone know if it is an open to the public race at your own risk track, or just for their race clinics and saturday races?

There might be something online about Hornet Nest's BMX. I know they were still racing there quite a bit. And they have for years up there.
If nothing is locked up or there are no signs posted otherwise, I would use at your own risk and be respectful. If you have to hop a fence or something I probably wouldnt. Unless I had ALOT of donuts.

I was out a Hornet's Nest about a year ago on their disc golf course, which runs close to the BMX track at one point. It was definitely fenced, gated, and locked. It would be worth a try to stop by the ranger shack and take some coffee and your car in for the on duty ranger. You might get him interested enough in your car to want to watch you run on the track some

If you guys ever come over to the West side, let me know. I work over there beside the airport. If any of you know where the compost is (all the way at the end of West Blvd.) .... that would be an awesome place! Across the road from the compost is where I am talking about. They just cleared the land off and it looks fun!
BTW, I am in the Hickory area. I just travel to Charlotte a few times a week to work.

I just remembered going to Francis Beatty park in Matthews a few years ago, and there are some areas that would be great for R/C action. Being a county owned park, they would probably frown on nitros, but as long as everyone was mindful of the walkers and bikers I think it would be fine.
The park is located in Matthews off of Weddington Rd, near McGee/Tilley Morris, which is about 5 miles from downtown Matthews. There is a 485 ramp nearby as well. The website is http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/...cis+Beatty.htm
A map is available here - http://www.charmeck.org/NR/rdonlyres...onelbeatty.pdf
The bike trail on the western side of the lake is what I had in mind. When I was last there about two years ago it was pretty much open and dirt covered, a little gravel in some sections. On the northern corner where there is a four-way intersection on the bike path, there is a ravine about six foot deep with jumps on both sides for bikers. I think I might go check this out over the weekend if the weather stays clear, it should be a fun spot.

I agree, should be a great place to bash. I used to ride my mountain bike there once a week for several months last year. Never took my E-Maxx out there though. You could get some major air on the bike jump you mention.
Please let me know if you do decide to head out that way. I am on-call at work but can usually always get away. It is only 15 minutes from my home so it is definately doable.
Feel free to pm me if you like.

Ice and I are heading to the Circle K Monster Truck Bash at the Dirt Track at Lowe's on the 18th. I'm thinking of bringing our trucks up there with us. Maybe drive around the lot or something afterwards and show off. Anyone else planning to go or are we the only rednecks? LOL!!

That did look like a hot ticket out at LMS. I'm not a huge Ford fanatic but to be able to see BigFoot would be pretty cool. That truck is usually out west mostly and doesnt make the circuits out here.
The Off-Road Nationals are doing there thang out at the Farm2 on the same weekend. They are running Wed. August 15th thru Sun. the 19th, I believe.
The r/c trucks will usually go over well with the "reds". Until someone says, hey can I drive? I'm gonna try and do both maybe. The Farm2 for sure.

Many many years ago I was part of a 1/12th scale on road race club in Charlotte, and for a few years we held a race at one of the larger annual car shows at CMS (before it became Lowe's). The cars are definitely a hit, although you may want to watch out for alchohol rage damage to your trucks after the race

Have you tried Mint Hill Park? It's at 485 & Fairview Road. I play disc golf over there sometimes and especially during the week, it's pretty empty. There aren't any houses near either. There are several good spots to bash back along the disk golf course, it sort of follows a creek bottom. Nice hills and a bunch of open fields for speed runs, a consession stand on the weekend. There are lots of people around on the weekends, but I bet you could still find a place in the back to bash.
Reedy Creek Park off Rocky River between W.T. Harris & 485 would be a great spot too. It's a huge park and most of it wooded. Tons of spots to bash.
You guys count me in if the monthlies happen. I'll be there with a couple of trucks. We should all at least get together and do a bash video to drop on the forum.
You know what else I just thought of? Hornet's Nest Park off 77 & Sunset has a BMX track that's only used on the weekend. I"ve been trying to get over there after work and run a truck or two, but haven't made it yet. Might be a good place for the vid.

the bmx track is off limits. gated and locked, and I e-mailed the guy and he said (in so many words) to stay out.

There are kids out there sometimes riding on it when it's not officially "open", so I figured we could get on. I've played disc golf after work there a lot. I might try it anyway, I'm a "ask forgiveness, not permission" sort of guy though.
I'm game for tomorrow morning, pretty much could meet anyplace too. Ballantyne, east side parks, construction site, somebody name the place and time. I'll have to thrash on my trucks tonight, I managed to break all 3 in the last week. I think I have the parts I need though....
Anybody got a video camera they can bring?

I have a digital camera with video mode that is pretty good, I'll bring it. Anyone else with cameras bring em too
So where should we go? Shocker had mentioned some area around Ballentyne before, we could try that. Also Francis Beatty park could be interesting, and there are two good construction sites across from Northlake mall as well.

Francis Beatty &/or near Ballantyne.
I can provide electricity for the chargers & beverages for the bodies if we do it near Ballantyne.
I'll need to do some thrashing tonight too Cajun.
I'll check this thread thru out the day.

I'm cool with Ballantyne. I like the idea of having some electricity and not having to rely on my truck battery to recharge.
I'll check today too, I can throw in some drinks as well. Let me know if we need a cooler, I have several we could drag down to the bash spot with us.
That sounds like 3 on board, anybody else?

You're lucky, they're behind schedule now with the site work or the building constructon would be underway already.

Ok, sounds like Ballantyne is it. Do you want to give us directions to the spot or meet somewhere near? I'm thinking around 10am before it gets too hot, but since I'm sure some of you may want to sleep in I can do whenever.
AC isn't that important to me, since I'm running on 4200 NiMH and the charge time on these guys is like 90 minutes. I'll probably just run my two packs and be done.
I sent a PM to Ice to see if he and Tink wanted to join in, so we may have up to five. What channel is everyone on? My Rustler is using AM Ch 6 - 27.255. I can pick up some extra crystals if anyone else is on that channel, Hobby Town is less than a mile from home for me.

10am sounds good to me. My Revo and E-Maxx are on my Spektrum, so no worries there. I thought I'd have my Spektrum RX for my Rustler in the mail today, but it wasn't, so it'll be on AM 27.145 (yellow). I also have a set of red crystals I'll bring along.
Ok, Shocker, hit us with the directions! The Queen City Bashers are invading New New Jersy.
