Poor, poor micro. I do have to kind of agree though. I love driving my micro but as soon as you put the lipo in it, no matter how little throttle you give it the front end lifts just enough to prevent the steering from being at all useful.

Oh well, at least it can go fast in a straight line

One of my Micro-DT has been waiting in my RC garage since I got that amazing mini-Revo, in need for a transmission rebuild... Removing most parts and adding an elastic gave this crazy look. Just a joke really. Remaining weight was <50 grams.

More seriously, I am looking forward at designing a real wheelie bar for my mini-Revo, probably using the micro wheels and some alu in a simple design.

Any suggestion?

Based on your experience, what is the best angle for a wheelie bar design?

thats a pretty smart idea for a wheelie bar. I think it will work excellent.

But still poor little micro

It's a conjugated twin growing out of the e-revo's rear end. I do feel bad for the micro, lol.

So, I ended up making a support from a scrapped aluminum heat sink.

Weight with wheels and bearings : 35g

Several holding points are available on the mini; I used the bumper holes for this first version. The fact that it is flexible should provide some damping and hopefully prevent things from breaking on the first crash… lol, I will see soon enough! Maybe I should order a wing mount right away…

Up close :

I like the look with the Monster tires (double width) :

Available tire options... :

hmm ... Landing, flipping or breaking?

I can't wait to try it out & I hope it does the job... If not, the 2nd version will be better.

Folks, keep on truck'in!

I tighten back my slipper clutch and ran for more then half an hour today, mainly on asphalt.

It's doing it's job great, wheeeeelies! Quite fun and spectacular even if my normal driving/setup style is to keep all 4 wheels on the ground as much as possible. Accordingly, I ordered a center diff for normal racing circumstances.

I have no doubt that the wing mount plastic will give up at some point, probably by backing up at high speed into something or via a bad jump landing (no crash of this style yet...). Ordering a backup mount is my next garage task...

Meanwhile, it's staying on!

Oh yea! After an hour and a half of hard bashing, it's still holding and working like a charm.

I had several crazy high speed cart wheel in gravel, hit rocks and landed jumps on it.

Traxxas wing mount design and plastic choice is perfect. Flexible and strong! That's, the damping mechanism.

FYI. This new optional part wheelie bar seems to be using the same mounting position as I do :
