E-Maxx 3905 + Hobbywing 150A/2350kv

Hi, I just wanted to give you my fist impression of the Hobbywing 150A/2350kv combo. Mine is a Turnigy from www.*********.com, but it's exactly the same as a Ezrun, both are Hobbywing products.
http://*********.com/*********/store...idproduct=9127

Once unpacked, you'll notices the enormous size of the ESC. Also the motor is a big thing. Below they are compared to the Ezrun 60A and Ezrun 3300kv motor from my Slash:

And here is the first testrun, I taped my pocketcamera to the transmitter, so the filming isn't the best. But I think you get an idea of it's performance, and of the extremly low cogging this combo has.

I am using a pair of 2S Rhino's, which served me great all summer in my Slash:
http://*********.com/*********/store...idproduct=7653

Runtime is around 35 minutes, gearing is the supplied 21t pinion and the original 68t spur. All else is bone stock.

That is great! I have the same combo but did you get the V1? Cause my motor is black and its the V2. I have heard that the V1 motor is not very good so be careful with it. Watch the temps with the 21t also cause mine came with a 19t pinion and it get warm with that. Other than that I hope you have stronger drive shafts cause you are going to be replacing them more.

Thanks, yes, it seems like I got the V1. I have an ongoing discussion with ********* and I hope we can resolve it in a good way. Did you order yours from *********, and got the black one?

Currently I've opened the slipper to not allow any wheelies, and use the transmitter for punchcontrol. I'm looking to upgrade shafts to steel as time to by. And the temps is great, never above 30C, but it's cold here... 5-8C during daytime.

Yepp, J-DUB is correct, a tape on the dean contact will put less strain when disconnecting the plug.

That link is bad and what ever connector you feel that is going to suit your needs is the one you want to go with but IMO I would say go with deans.

It's a direct hookup, no mods required

Just a heads up, DON'T TRY SETTING UP THE ESC TO YOUR TX WITH A MOTOR WIRE DISCONNECTED with these EZruns (to prevent a runaway truck). Just remove the pinion or loosen the motor to physically disengage the pinion from the spur instead.
I did, and now I'm mad at myself and out of pocket another $70.

I've done the motor wire thing on my other setups without any problem, but these 1/8 Ezruns don't like it.

Just to clarify, I fried my ESC doing the motor wire thing. I got a small puff of smoke, the motor (with only 2 wires connected I might add) went all crazy, jittery, and still drove off. With the puff of smoke I knew something was dead, and I had originally thought it the motor, but hooking up my VXL motor to the EZrun 80A esc, it still was crazy.

I'm mad at myself, and partly at Hobbywing because it should stand up to that more than it did, as I said my other ESC's don't mind it. Anyway, it was my fault so........never again will I do that.

Yeah the wires are soldered if you buy the combo. If you buy the esc and motor separately they aren't soldered. I got the combo and unsoldered the motor and esc and added bullet connectors.

Those Rhino Lipos you use, at only 20C, is that enough? That is under 100Amp not? Any issues?

Thanks

Holy crap, that thing has TORQUE.

The Hobbywing 150A/2350kv combo is like a MMM 2200kv combo, but for $100 less.
